A sound art graduate in both Argentina and Catalonia, Juan Manuel Castrillo centers his work on the exploration of sound possibilities with the purpose of social and political awareness. Baed on specific social issues such as decolonization, anti-racist battles and migration issues, he uses the sound registry of spoken witnesses, protests, audio journalism piece fragments and so on, in order to build sound documentaries to be presented in form of concert or installation. In addition to that, he realizes sound design and production for theatre, dance and all kinds of audiovisual media.

He is also the founder of independent label Earwitness, and also published his work on other labels such as Gruenrekorder (Germany), Impulsive Habitat (Portugal), TiConzero (Italy), Sudamérica Electrónica (Argentina), among others.
